Last Waitangi Day, our Marlborough office was significantly damaged by a fire.
This was especially heartbreaking as, after 15 years in that location, we had just completed renovations to provide a better service for our clients. “We are grateful that there was no personal loss or injury,” Centre Manager Felicity Spencer said. "But for people who come through here, the emotional loss is quite significant." Repairs to the building are likely to cost tens of thousands of dollars, as well as time to replace handmade items like wigs and turbans used by some clients.
We acted quickly to find a temporary space to continue supporting people affected by cancer. Now, our services have shifted online due to COVID-19 but we are still renting the temporary premises for when the lockdown lifts. Please donate today to help keep the centre running.
