ANZ has been a principal sponsor of Daffodil Day since 1990 and in that time has raised almost $20million to support the Cancer Society's important work.
ANZ staff have been amazing supporters of their local Cancer Society. Each year local teams fundraise through sausage sizzles, raffles, quiz nights and ‘chop the mop’ events, as well as collecting on Daffodil Day.
Judy Roger from ANZ Invercargill decided to do something a little different with a very local "flavour":
About 15 years ago I rang Graeme at Barnes Oysters in Invercargill to see if we could sell some of our region’s famous oysters as a fundraiser for Daffodil Day. He immediately said yes.
Judy Roger, ANZ Invercargill
She has organised a bluff oyster fundraiser to benefit the local Cancer Society every year since 2004.
In that time, working alongside Graeme, Judy thinks she’s sold more than 11,000 pottles of Bluff oysters to colleagues, family, and members of the Invercargill community and raised almost $50,000 to support the national charity.
For those of you numerically inclined that is over 132,000 oysters!
As part of the celebrations to mark 30 years of Daffodil in 2020, Judy's efforts were recognised with the He iti pounamu award.
Thanks so much to Judy and ANZ for your ongoing support. We couldn't do our work without your effort.
