The Cancer Society is recruiting for a part-time position of Events Organiser based in Whanganui.

This is a permanent part-time position of flexible hours (may be 20-30 hours per week and will be arranged and confirmed with the candidate) 

Suitable for someone who can organise and implement events, who has the ability to talk to anyone, who can sell themselves and the project to the local community. 

About The Position: 

This is a busy and varied role in which the successful candidate will need to:-  

  • Deliver high quality events that return significant revenue to support the work of the Cancer Society  
  • Juggle several events concurrently; be planning one and implementing another
  • Support people in the local community who wish to run an event
  • Work with the local centre team and the region wide team
  • Maintain great relationships with local sponsors and supporters  
  • Follow-up and thank our many supporters who make our events possible

We want to hear from you if you have:- 

  • A background in organising events/public speaking/sales/work planning 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office 
  • A current full NZ Driver Licence 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a larger team 
  • Impeccable organisational skills 
  • Desirable but not strictly necessary, is an understanding of the principals of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and some Te Reo Māori 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
