Who volunteers for the Cancer Society?
People volunteer for different reasons, but they all bring skills, passion and energy to their roles.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, but they are all committed to reducing the impact and incidence of cancer.
We wouldn’t be able to support, inform and empower those affected by cancer without volunteers like you.
You can positively impact your community, be part of a team, share your experience, learn new skills, and develop lasting friendships.
What sort of things can you do as a volunteer?
Our volunteer roles include:
- driving people with cancer to their appointments
- helping in our accommodation
- supporting people at their hospital appointments
- giving us a hand in our offices
- helping at our events (Relay for Life, Daffodil Day)
- making hats, turbans, or cushions for people to use during treatment
- baking food for patients or accommodation guests
Meals in Advance
Gather a group of 4-6 people together and meet up at Margaret Stewart House to prepare boxed meals. These will be stored in the freezer so guests can access a quick, nourishing meal whenever they need.
Cooking together is a fun, team-bonding experience and at the same time you are providing easy meals and comfort food to guests and families going through cancer treatment.
All food and equipment supplied.
Time commitment: as needed, weekdays 10am - 1pm or Saturdays by arrangement.
