This Daffodil Day, your support could change everything.
1 in 3 New Zealanders will be diagnosed with cancer.
That could be you, or it could be someone you love.
Your support is urgently needed to ensure Kiwis facing cancer receive free nursing care, counselling, transport to treatment, and a safe place to stay. Please donate today.
When Paige was told she had terminal brain cancer, she was just 26 years old. One of the first things she asked was whether they could freeze her eggs. The doctors said no.
“They told me I’d never live long enough to be a parent.” – Paige
Can you imagine hearing that?
Her dreams of having a family were torn away in an instant. Since then, Paige has faced intense treatment, the loss of movement in half her body, and unthinkable grief not just for herself, but for what it’s doing to her family.
“The hardest part is seeing what it is doing to my family. I can see it in their eyes. I can feel that it’s just breaking everyone’s hearts.”
But in the middle of that heartbreak, Paige hasn’t been alone because of people like you.
Paige has been able to get transport to treatment from Cancer Society Volunteer Drivers. She’s had expert nursing care, and practical help during her most vulnerable days. And her mum, Rachel, has had someone to turn to.
“The Cancer Society has been incredible. They’ve taken the pressure off and helped my family in ways we didn’t even know we needed.” – Rachel
But for so many like Paige, this fight is far from over.
Every day, 74 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer. That’s 74 families whose world turns upside down - just like Paige’s did.
We can’t reverse Paige’s diagnosis. But we can be there for every person who hears the words “You have cancer.”
Your gift today can help provide:
- Free transport to treatment, so no one misses life-saving care.
- Expert nursing and emotional support from the moment of diagnosis.
- A welcoming place to stay at our Cancer Society Lodges.
- And crucially, life-changing cancer research bringing hope for the future
